Star curry kitchen

We love this place! When we've had a few weeks of Portuguese food (which we love), we often like something ethnic and Star Curry Kitchen does the trick! Not only is their food delicious, their service spot on, and their atmosphere clean and fun, but they also have our favorite beer on tap - Bock Damm, from Estrella Damm. (But when ordering, just ask for "preta", which means 'black (beer)' and Bock Damm is what you'll get. Although it's dark, it's a lager, so not nearly as heavy as a brown, porter, or stout. We find its malty toastiness to be great both in winter and summer.)

Absolutely phenomenal – a hidden gem in Tomar! I’ve eaten thousands of Indian meals around the world — from London to Delhi — and I can confidently say that Star Curry House in Tomar has served me one of the most delicious and authentic Indian meals I’ve ever had. This place is a total surprise: not your typical holiday dining choice, but absolutely unforgettable once you try it. From the moment the food arrived, I knew I was in for something special. The flavors were rich, deep, and perfectly balanced — every bite packed with spice, soul, and authenticity. You can tell the chefs truly care about what they’re cooking. It’s not toned down for tourists — it’s the real deal, and it’s spectacular. Honestly, I didn’t expect to find Indian food of this caliber tucked away in Tomar, but I’m so glad I did. It’s the kind of meal that stays with you — I’ll be thinking about it for a long time. If you’re in Tomar and even remotely like Indian food, do yourself a favor and GO. Not just good — unbelievably good. A memorable experience that deserves to be shouted about. 🙌

As two English residents in Portugal we relied on reviews to find new resturants to sample After a visit to the Convent of Christ we walked in at 6.30pm with two friends. Poppadoms with chutney tray, Bhajid, the best vegetable samosa's, a mushroom dish and another vegetable starter, all fantastic, Lamb curry two massive mixed grill and chicken tikka starter portion with madras sause. All fantastic . Estrella Dam on tap with the option of Super Boc black and , English folks listen up, Cobra on draft. We cannot recommend this resturant enough. Add this resturant to your itinery and enjoy

Four of us were on an organized tour and went to Star for a lunch. The experience was unbelievable. Since we had a limited time, we requested them to put together some vegetarian plates. The waiter, Jimmy, went out of his way to create the order. All items were delicious. As we were leaving, the chef told us that because of limited time, they didn’t have time to prepare something special and give us enough time to consume the food. So, they packed it up and gave it to us to take it with us, no charge. They really treated us like a family. What an experience!!! Thank you.

Best Indian food I have had in my 4+years in Portugal! The restaurant is tastefully decorated. The ambiance is quiet elegance. The service was friendly and attentive. The onion bajis were light and crispy. The medium spice lamb Rogan Josh was just spicy enough to make me start to sweat without being so hot I couldn’t enjoy it. The chicken tikka masala was a bit sweeter than we expected but still a wonderful dish. This is a real stand out place.
